Mint Julep
I had my first Mint Julep (granted it wasn't a real Mint Julep) on our honeymoon at Disneyland along with some Mickey Mouse beignets. I didn't realize at first that this pin was of a Mint Julep, but once I caught on I fell in love with it!

Scrapper Comparison: Park Icons 2011
My first attempt at buying some of the 2011 Park icon pins was not very successful. I purchased three pins (Dumbo, Castle, and Ear Hat) on ebay and received scrappers!
Scrappers are pins that were manufactured outside of the producers contract with Disney (say they make an extra 200 copies of an LE 750 pin) or that did not meet quality standards and were meant to be destroyed but were instead sold. Scrappers are lower quality and have certain characteristics. For example, the paint is often not completely filled in. The paint or metal may be the wrong color. Furthermore, the pin may have rough edges, feel too light, or have incorrect backstamp information and/or designs.
The park icon pins I received were wrong in both the metal and design colors. The park icon pins have a unique blackened metal, similar to the Sea Serpent pin from the Vinylmation Park #7 collection. However, the pins I was sent were the usual silver color.
In these photos, the authentic pins are on the left and the scrapper version is on the left. It can be hard to see the difference in the metal coloration in a photograph, but there are also other variations between the authentic pins and the scrappers. The detail is much greater in the authentic pins of the castle and of Dumbo. It is also clear that the yellow is different on the ear hat pins. The authentic pin has a bold, true yellow color, while the scrapper has a watery, almost-green yellow color.
The backs of the pins also highlight some key differences between the two versions.
The metal color difference much clearer on the back, but pay special attention to the area in the red box in the second photo. The scrapper version of the pin is plagued by one of the surest signs of a scrapper: the border on the Mickey head waffle pattern. See how the pattern doesn't reach all the way to the edge? It's also pretty clear that the scrapper doesn't have a real Mickey head waffle--the shape is more like a teddy bear head than a Mickey head.
Hopefully this comparison is useful when evaluating the authenticity of a pin. Especially online, scrappers are hard to avoid, but the best tool pin collectors can have on their side is knowledge!

Disney Bear
In addition to my obsession with Disney pins, Peter Pan, puppies, etc., I also love, love, love bears! I didn't have any bears in my pin collection, but I have now corrected this serious oversight with the waving Disney Bear:
This little bear reminded me of my Build-A-Bear from Downtown Disney in CA, Peter (naturally).

World of Color Fountains
Truth be told, when we were in Disneyland last May I had no idea what these little guys were supposed to be. I saw them around and I was intrigued, but I really didn't get it. Once I got home, I saw them online and discovered that they are fountains from the (amazing, awesome, best thing ever) World of Color show. With that information, I realized I had to have some!

50th Pin!! Peter Pan's Flight: Tinkerbell D-Ticket
So... Another Peter Pan's Flight pin... However, this one is unique in a few ways!
I love the retro style of the pin and the reference to the old ride tickets. None of my other Peter Pan's Flight pins have that!

Daisy Duck "S"
While in Disneyland, I admired the Disneyland Character Letter set. The letters spelling out "Disneyland" are in the likeness of several characters. Now that I have the Daisy Duck "S," I am hoping I will be able to collect the rest of the pins in the set... You know I have my eye on that Peter Pan "E"!!

How do you bring your pins to the park?

Sorcerer's Hat: Neverland
This pin is meant to be a birthday gift, but I managed to get my hands on it about a month early... I like surprises, but I also like getting things a little early sometimes!
This is a 200 LE pin from the Walt Disney Imagineers collection. Each pin is in the shape of Mickey's Sorcerer hat and depicts a different attraction or character. Since Peter Pan's Flight is my favorite, I was coveting this pin!

Fantasyland
I was wanting an Aurora/Sleeping Beauty pin and really liked that this one not only features Aurora but also other Fantasyland attractions such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Fantasyland is also home to some of my other favorite attractions at Disneyland and Disney World, like Peter Pan's Flight and Mickey's Philharmagic.

Mickey and Minnie
The Minnie Mouse in my collection is another one that came as a set; I wear one, and my husband wears the other, the Mickey Mouse. Here they are together:
This was another "we're on our honeymoon purchase." Even though they are black and white, these pins really stand out!

Peter Pan... and Wendy, Tinkerbell, John, and Michael
When I got my Wall-E and Eve pins my first day, I also purchased an individual Peter Pan. At that point, I figured I had my favorite characters and I would not be getting more pins. Obviously, history says otherwise and I developed an obsession.
I ended up trading the original Peter Pan I purchased, buying another one, trading it again, and then buying this set. The Peter in this set is different; his legs are spread rather than together.
Despite really loving Peter Pan, I am not crazy about Tinkerbell, so I plan to trade the Tinkerbell pin. Since Peter can be replaced so easily, I would consider trading him for something harder to find.

Fastpass
Who doesn't love FASTPASS? I saw a few people with this pin, but didn't see it in stores. I traded with a cast member for this pin. This is my only pin with a hidden Mickey, so I was excited to add it to my collection.
I was really surprised when people commented on this pin, not knowing what the "FP" symbol was. We were in Disneyland, though, where FASTPASS isn't as widely available as it is in Disney World.

Ariel: World of Color
In addition to the Simba World of Color pin, three others were made with the same general design. Since people were interested in trading for my Simba one, I contemplated trading mine since my husband said I could have his (trade my Simba pin and have it too!). I didn't want to do that though, and figured that people with the other character World of Color pins would be as attached to theirs as I was to mine. I had come to terms with the fact that I would not get the other pins in this "set."
However, in the Downtown Disney trading kiosk, the cast member had an Ariel pin that I traded for!
I don't remember what I traded for this, but I'll be keeping better track of my trades in the future. The Ariel pin was available through Walt Disney Travel Company, similar to how the Simba pin was available to AAA customers.
The other characters on this style of pin are Buzz Lightyear (through Costco) and Crush (through Visa/Chase); maybe I will be able to add those to my collection someday!

Yoda
I fell in love with this Yoda pin because of the great detail after finding it at the trading kiosk in Downtown Disney. The embroidered Mickey ears and the bite taken out of the ice cream sealed the deal!

Peter Pan's Flight fascinated me when I went to Disneyland as a child and is still the first attraction I run to on each trip. I first saw the pin as part of a collection of several limited edition pins at the trading kiosk in Downtown Disney. Some of the pins from the collection were sold individually there, but of course, not Peter Pan's Flight. Since the collection was around $70, this was a dilemma. Fortunately, we still had several days left in our trip and I scoured every pin in the park until I found this one, sold separately, at one of the stores in Tomorrowland. Elated doesn't even begin to describe it!
By the time I found the Peter Pan's Flight pin, I had more or less decided to go ahead and buy the full collection and trade any of them that I didn't like as much. The other pins in the collection were great, featuring other attractions such as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Alice's Mad Tea Party, Chip 'n Dale Treehouse, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Splash Mountain.

Grape Soda Cap
One of my most treasured pins is this one, a safety-pinned grape soda cap like the one in UP.
I love UP (despite the emotional rollercoaster that watching it causes) so when I saw this pin, I had to have it. The employee at the store where I bought it commented that this pin is hard to keep on the racks because so many people love it, and I can see why.

Mr. and Mrs.
Since it was our honeymoon, we (read: I) wanted a pin to commemorate the occasion. We came across this set in the store in Critter Country after riding The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
I was really torn between this set and one of Mickey and Minnie at the altar, but decided on this set so we could each wear half. In retrospect, I am surprised I didn't get both, considering that's what happened every other time I couldn't make up my mind.
